Injection mold parts are mainly divided into two categories, one is molded parts, the other is non-molded parts. Molded parts refer to mold parts that are directly in contact with plastic and molded products, such as cavities, cores, sliders, inserts, inclined tops, side draws, etc. Non-forming parts refer to mold parts that are not in direct contact with plastic, such as mold frame, positioning ring, gate sleeve, wear resistant block, etc. The following is based on our years of experience in mold, to share with you how to choose injection mold parts and materials.

First, the selection of forming parts material

Molding parts material determines the quality and life of the injection mold, but also determines the appearance and internal quality of injection products, so the selection of molding parts material must be based on the type of plastic molding, the shape of products, dimensional accuracy, product appearance quality and use requirements, production batch size to choose.

1, high appearance quality requirements, long life, mass production of the mold

a) The cavity needs to select high-grade imported steel with high mirror polishing performance, such as 718/NAK8, etc.

b) Middle and low grade imported steel can be selected for the core, such as 618/738, etc.

2, appearance quality requirements are general, long life, mass production of the mold

a) The cavity needs to select middle and low grade imported P20 steel;

b) The core can be selected from low-grade imported P20 steel.

3, no appearance quality requirements of the mold

a) For medium and large molds, the cavity can be selected as low-grade imported P20 or P20+NI steel; The core can be imported or domestic high quality carbon steel.

b) For small molds, the cavity can be selected as low-grade imported P20 or domestic P20, and the core can be selected as domestic plastic die steel.

c) For small molds with simple structure and low output, domestic plastic mold steel or high-quality carbon steel can be selected for cavity and core.

Second, the selection of non-forming parts material

a) Injection mold general structure parts, such as ejection positioning ring, limit pull rod, column, etc., can choose domestic SM45 steel, special requirements of another word.

b) The mold frame of the injection mold shall refer to the standard of the mold frame, and the template shall generally be imported S50C or domestic SM45; Guide column material can be GCr15 or SUJ2, other parts do not explain, you can call us to know.
