When assembling the divided injection molding mold inserts, the dimensional tolerance of the controlled inserts is out of tolerance, which may lead to the failure to fit into the hole or the large gap. The idea of managing dimensional tolerances between similar parts is called "fit".
As represented by the relationship between shaft and bearing, "fit" is the idea of managing the allowable dimensional tolerance of the clearance between shaft shape and hole shape, which is divided into three fit methods as shown below.
1. Clearance fit
In any combination of shaft dimensional tolerances and hole dimensional tolerances, a clearance fit always occurs.
2. Transition fit
A fit that generates clearance or interference according to the combination of shaft dimensional tolerance and hole dimensional tolerance.
3. Interference fit
In any combination of shaft dimensional tolerance and hole dimensional tolerance, interference fit always occurs.
